Would say that Fi-Ni loops often becomes into paranoia episodes.
@shahenshah INSPs are prone to what, then? :/
It's also good to remember that for most of the series he doesn't present any of his function in a mature form.Except in his moment of glory, his denial of Instrumentality, and his moment of glory is Fi: even with his low self-esteem and pessimism, he chooses the self. The last episode in the series is even called: The Boy Who Shouted ''I'' In the Heart of the World.Even then, he doesn't make the decision because he thinks it's best for the people or because everyone would have done the same, but because it doesn't suits him and what he learned about himself. In the end, its his self-centerdnes rather than his selfless-nes that saves everyone.SEELE thinks in terms of ''humanity's greater good'' and condemned everyone, he thinks in terms of himself, and rectifies it.
He has the typical INFP eyes, over all I cant see anything other than INFP
INFP with an unhealthy Fi-Si loop. I've seen it in a person before, it's the loop that gives them the avoidant syndrome. It's also why INFPs are avoidant prone and ISFPs aren't.
It's all I could find on short notice. Zombies ruin everything isn't exactly the go to place for typing either. Myanimelist used to list Shinji's MBTI type as ISFJ but that bit of info has been removed. To reiterate, anyone with major depression looks like a dominant Fi user. It's hard to tell an introvert with Fe vs a dom Fi user, which is why so many people think Thom Yorke is an INFJ. But hey, ISFP is my second choice, so I don't really care.
That first link has an uncommon interpretation of what Si is, as well as a very unconvincing argument for Fe over Fi. I still stand by ISFP.
http://ficmbti.tumblr.com/post/80705988481/shinji-ikari-from-neon-genesis-evangelion-isfj; http://zombiesruineverything.com/2014/06/04/mbti-shinji-ikari-infp/; I guess it depends on who you believe.
I just can't take the dom-tert loop stuff seriously. As soon as you prefer sensing over intuition which he seems to, you're a senser to me. Shinji just seems like a psychologically disturbed one. Call it avoidant personality or whatever. And assuming you're an INFP, there's no reason why you can't identify with an ISFP, both being Fi doms. And everyone makes their own reality, except INTPs who are in fact literally cyborgs. That analysis was pretty interesting though.
I think it's because he might be in Fi-Si loop. He shows strong signs of avoidant personality disorder and filtering of reality (hedgehog dilemma). When the show was first aired I was 14 and identified so hard with him. He's not really taking reality for what it is but rather make up his own impression of what reality is. Here's a great analysis : http://ritsumaya.tumblr.com/post/88825700707/eva-analysis-the-hedgehogs-dilemma-filtering
I think he's pretty clearly Fi but he seems to focus more on what's directly in front of him rather than anything intuitive. ISFP with anxiety issues.
"Also, if he was a J he would take a decision about piloting and stick with it. He doesn't show any real J" No, that is a common misconception of typing. As Celebritytypes says about repressed Te for INFPs "Repress their Extroverted Thinking function, meaning they sometimes preserve their own opinion in the face of facts and evidence to the contrary." Here's a video of an INFP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JR3_OtpJe8; Shinji does not have that Fi rant. When stressed, an INFP would become logical and somewhat impersonal. Thinking functions have little to do with how aggressive a person can be. Heck, Kanye West and Bruce Willis are both ISFJ and two of the most aggressive celebrities I'm aware of. Shinji never wanted to pilot the Eva. Episode 1 would've been 5 minutes long if he was Fi dominant. He lets the people around him push him around and tell him what to do constantly. Once again, I say he is depressed. Give me anyone--real or fiction--and see them with depression, and I guarantee they look Fi dominant. For ISFJ celebritytypes says about repressed Ne: "Repress their Extroverted Intuition function, meaning they sometimes have a hard time 'letting loose' and doing things in novel and unconventional ways." That sounds a bit more like Shinji. But I guess we'll just have to disagree.
Depressed INFP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18gGaL9HI9Y--note the Ne: "Is this a conspiracy? And this...and this...and this...?"; Depressed ISFP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONYR6f1TIEU. At a friggen party after his dad dies. Surrounded by music, people, lights, etc. then latches onto his best friend without saying a word; Depressed ISFJ: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUyIKi0b7aA. Fe: if he's depressed, you'll sure as heck know it. Someone with Fi will find a private area to cry in--Fe doesn't give a crap who sees. This character wants to please the people around him and sacrifices himself in order to do so. I believe the Ne Shinji shows is his inferior function. He never struggles with Te (order;decisiveness) throughout the show or movies, but with Ne (indecisiveness); If Shinji was Fi dom and didn't want to pilot the Eva, he would not pilot the Eva. He doesn't just want his father's approval, but the approval of everyone around him (hence the "congratulations" sequence). People seem to confuse Anno (ISFP) with Shinji. What people forget is that Shinji is an introvert. An introvert with aux or even inferior Fe can look like an Fi user. Think of Watson from BBC's Sherlock: does he go around hugging everyone? No, but he has a group of people he would do anything for: Mary, Sherlock, Ms. Hudson, etc. Most importantly, DEPRESSION MAKES EVERYONE LOOK LIKE AN FI USER! P.S. Off topic, but I wish there was a way to space out the text.
Yes he's a Fi-Dom dreamer, not a very physically active person. One of the finest examples of an INFP protagonist.
I'm curious what makes ISFP voters see Se and ISFJ voters see Fe (and judging, for that matter)? Seriously wish I knew French so I could read their comments lol. Whatever he is, he's a huge Fi-dom. INFP for me.
This might help you decide. Or not. It was on a description of INFPs and it was used to describe an INFP's dreamy look, which is a good way to discern INFPs from ISFPs. "Do they pay attention?" http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/6/6b/Eva027.jpg/230px-Eva027.jpg
This dude makes me want 2015 to come faster. It's a bit silly, but it's true.
ISFP 6...?
