Kurapika a duty-task oriented person who deals things more in a Si way ? Even during his youth he was the most prone among all the members of his clan to question settled things, always challenging the elder of the clan to know the ulterior motive of the interdiction to leave their forest and asking him to let him bypass it. Ever since his goal to explore the world and actually see how it matches the mental construction he had when reading books hasn't changed, the spider stuff just changed the order of his goals.
He's actually quite detached from his past for someone who has such a past. No one would shrug such events off, especially when they determine his whole life seeing as he has nowhere to go and was left completely alone in the world.
How so? He is completely focused on his past and how things have affected him. This is not how an INTJ would handle trauma, this is how an ISTJ would handle trauma.
LOL, anyone who votes anything else than INTJ is a complete fool.
ISTJ is my main hunch. I can kind of see INTJ because he has clear goals, but the way I see it this is more related to his Te.
I alwys throught he was a clear ISTJ but since rereading the last couple of chapters he is coming more off as an INTJ. He has a clear vision of his goals, has an unwavering will and does manage people if the need arises (once again this is from the latest chapter.) This is all Ni-Te. And while I don't like to argue in favor of displays of intuition since the community is very N biased he has been acting on hunches a lot lately.
He seems more like an unhealthy 1w9 to me. I can still see a lot of 5w4 so that's probably a part of his tritype, but I think his 1w9 comes first.
Any clue about Enneagram? I think he's either 1w9 or 5w4. He's got a good mixture of traits from both types.
He's using knowledge to further his depth of his understanding, so he can choose the right path. This is not something an Si type can't do but something that an Ni type is much more likely to do.
I think considering him as obsessed with "revenge" is inaccurate. He does feel a duty as the last Kurta to make certain things as right as he can, which you see by him collecting the eyeballs. As confirmed in the manga, he has only killed one (or 2 if you look at it different), and he didn't feel good about doing it. His Ni is constantly searching for the big picture, trying to figure out meaning and motivations so that he can better plan his fight against the ideology that leads to things such as the Kurta massacre. This is shown in his conversation with Uvogin. He's always trying to gain knowledge and figure out something so that he can better hone his own approaches. Which is not something that an Si-dom would concern themselves with nearly as much as they prefer approaches that obviously do something. If you look at Scar from FMA, he is a good depiction of what a revenge-driven ISTJ looks like.
As an Ni user (INFJ), I definitely agree with you The Dude. There's no way that Kurapika is IN*J, he's 110% focused on his past and his trauma. Even with something as traumatizing as kurakipa's past, an Ni dom, sooner or later, would move on with it. It's not that we wouldn't seek revenge on it, we would, but over the time we would start acquiring new goals, new objectives alongside it. I think after something like 2-3 years even a trauma like this wouldn't be the main focus of our life. I think he is an ISTJ.
Lol what is there to "decipher what it means" about? His entire clan is dead. Is he supposed to not care about that if he is an Ni dom? And what exactly is he "very particular" about that an INTJ wouldn't be?
I'm sure an Ni dom would never be stuck on reliving their entire clan dead.
Imo his backstory solidifies how he's so Si/Te task oriented. Everything he does is task oriented. He's reliable and he gets his job done. An Si/Fi loop would explain why he feels so awful all the time.
If "task and duty oriented" is how you are going to look at Si, then his backstory really goes against that..
I'm seconding the ISTJ argument. I don't see a lot of Ni/Se in him. His motivations are much more task and duty oriented. His rationality and ability to calculate has nothing to do with Ni.
Ok, changed my vote to INTJ. Too stubborn and unaccommodating for INFx or INTP, yet intellectually open-minded and can be quite the rationalist.
Source: http://hunterxhunter.wikia.com/wiki/Kurapika Kurapika is a level-headed and intelligent individual, possessing vast knowledge. He is reticent; not one to open up to people easily and quite judgmental. His distance from others initially keeps him level-headed and moralistic, but his heart has been poisoned with sadness and hatred. Having been traumatized from losing everyone he loved at the age of twelve, Kurapika closes his heart to new people and remains introverted as to stay focused on his goal. Translation of source: Kurapika is an INTJ. He's the brains of the 4, with great ability to read between the lines in the Hunter Exam phase, and a creative mind for problem solving. He is very objective-driven but his pathway to reach objectives is through any means that rationally work, as long as he's not compromising his ideals of not hurting innocent people. ISTJ cause tradition is a bad argument because in the extra manga chapters he found the clan traditions extremely unreasonable because they were irrational got in the way of his goals.
fuck ok kurapika is definitely an ISTJ. Out of all the HxH characters his is the one im most sure about. -strong belief in laws and traditions -strong sense of duty -i mean : "In general, the ISTJ has a tremendous amount of potential. Capable, logical, reasonable, and effective individuals with a deeply driven desire to promote security and peaceful living, the ISTJ has what it takes to be highly effective at achieving their chosen goals - whatever they may be." pl s . . .
Fi dom with a knack of figuring out stuff, and a more intellectual rather than physical approach. INFP all the way.
Hmmm, well he is self-righteous and moralistic like a type One but also seems Fi dom. He is ISFP, more grounded, serious, assertive and not as focused on people's positive potential for growth and change like an INFP. Maybe sx/sp One? Seems a bit more zealous and passionate so sx one can fit. or maybe just unhealthy type one of another subtype?
